Rhapsody looking for an experienced hands-on Development Manager to be part of a Music Content Platform team responsible for providing a scalable and high performance platform that enables the flow of music content through Content Management System.

The right person should have passion for engineering and looking to lead a group of Development and QA engineers covering a wide set of technologies, from Rhapsody API development using relational and NoSQL databases. The person should have a strong technical background with a good understanding of SDLC and ready to work with individual team members for solving various technical problems. This is a very technical hands-on role. Our team operates in an agile environment, practicing Scrum.

You will accomplish these things in your role:
• Design and implement Java based API interface that provides key functionality of providing metadata about music to partners using various data sources such as relational database or a no SQL database
• Lead software engineers through design, implementation and release of the next-generation features of the Rhapsody Music Platform targeted towards smooth and clean flow of content through the Content Management System. Your responsibility is to ensure that development progresses efficiently and that high quality software is delivered on-time according to expectations.
• Nurture and develop a team of talented, dedicated and brilliant engineers. You have high standards, and you’ll bring out the best in us.
• Work very closely with the team design, architecture and technical implementation of features.
• Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and in the achievement of the organizational goals.

We need you to have this:
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of experience managing a small team
• 8+ years of experience in software development of large scale backend applications
• 5+ years of experience working on API development on SOAP/XML or REST web services
• Experience in working with a noSQL database such as MongoDB or Cassandra
• Strong understanding of the challenges involved in building a high performance and scalable web service applications dealing with millions of users
• Exceptional software skills, specifically with Java, Spring, Tomcat and Linux, and RDBMS
• Good understanding of the maven build system and the ability to write, debug, maintain and extend project poms
• Experience with Scrum (required)
• Very strong problem analysis skills and experience designing solutions in a service oriented architecture.
• Possesses knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve testing issues and background in driving team towards automation
