Overview

Provide expert engineering and technical support in the planning, design, and operation of the various network infrastructures used in broadcast operations/engineering to support both the satellite and Internet products. Plan, install, configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, load balancers, intrusion detection systems, network management systems and access control systems.

Provide tier 2 and 3 support for the production networks and IP-based streaming systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, maintain and troubleshoot production network systems and equipment – routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, access control devices and load balancers
Network hosting of production and disaster recovery IP-based encoding/streaming systems
Direct and prioritize network troubleshooting and maintenance
Produce high quality documentation for all network designs, products, data flows and services
Monitor and ensure resolution of support escalations and provide training and guidance to all levels of support escalations from and provide training and guidance to all levels of Engineers
Work closely with other network, development and NOC teams to ensure dependencies are maintained
Network management and performance analysis (Splunk, SolarWinds, Zenoss)
Minimum Qualifications:

10 years experience preferred in planning, design, development, implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks
Significant experience diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements
Extensive experience in LAN layers 2 and up and WAN technologies and implementations
Extensive experience with multicast – dense, sparse and source specific
Experience with SNMP and WMI based monitoring systems
Ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear, concise and effective manner
Ability to be a key leader and demonstrate executive level leadership skills for the Corporation’s success
Knowledge of VMWare networking is preferred
The following industry certifications preferred: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications
B.S. in related field or equivalent experience.
M.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is desired

Technical Skills:

Expert knowledge of the following protocols and technologies is a requirement: IP routing protocols, router redundancy protocols including HSRP and VRRP, Ethernet protocols including spanning tree, rapid spanning tree 802.1W, access control, network address translation, quality of service and policy based routing
Extensive experience with IP Multicast – dense mode, sparse mode (RPs/BSRs) and source specific multicast
Extensive experience with Cisco/Foundry/Brocade and operating in a Linux/UNIX Environment
Experience with Cisco ASA/PIX, VPN Concentrator and associated protocols (IPSEC/PPTP/GRE)
Experience provisioning and troubleshooting Ethernet, T1, DS3, and SONET/SDH circuits
Fully versed in common Internet services such as DNS, mail and HTTP
Experience with various Windows technologies (2003/2008/2012, Win7, Active Directory)
SNMP, NTP, TACAS, Syslog and other critical network management/administration protocols
Web filtering and L4 load balancing products and technologies (Websense, F5/A10, etc.)
