Overview

Our internships provide on-the-job training by allowing interns to shadow industry professionals in a variety of departments. Every intern is assigned a special project that will both assist them in increasing their understanding of how each department operates, and aid the department in addressing a business need. Maek values its interns and works to ensure a mutually rewarding experience.

Please keep in mind that Maek internships are unpaid.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the day-to-day execution of:

Working within the Public Relations team to cultivate and manage relationships with music journalists and blogs
Working with the broader communications team to develop and distribute content through various channels, including social media; writing, editing and distributing press releases and media advisories to announce Maek news and reflect the Maek’s position and goals
Coordinating with outside public relations agencies on special projects
Coordinating with Business Development & Marketing teams
Monitoring results of the firm’s public and media relations efforts
Developing and updating reports in the firm’s databases regarding coverage of Maek in target media outlets and distributing reports internally
Researching media outlets and journalists for purposes of developing and regularly updating media distribution lists
Identifying new media opportunities that might become available
To qualify for an internship with Maek you must:

Be a junior in college with a focus in advertising, public relations, marketing or music business
Be able to create detailed long-term/short-term campaigns for music  business projects
Make a commitment of at least 15 hours per week
Excellent time management skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
EITHER have a major related to music business OR express how your experience and passion in music business translates to this position
