Are you a fan of electronic music and also “give a beat” about making the world a better place for folks that been marginalized by the economic and racial injustice? We are offering a special opportunity for someone who is passionate about music and social change.

Funds raised through our events and campaigns support 3 core programs:
1) educating and activating the dance music industry
2) DJ workshops/music education for youth and
3) an innovative mentoring program matching previously incarcerated youth and industry professionals to offer opportunities for creative expression and career development.

You will get to work directly with Give a Beat supporting artist activists, DJ’s and industry leaders such as DJ E-Clyps and Stacey Hotwaxx Hale as well as industry partners such as DJ Times, DanceGruv Radio, and Native Instruments. THE POSITION
-12-20 hours a week implementing strategic social media plan
-Min. 4 month commitment
-Unpaid, possible college credit (depending on college program)
-Potential to turn into paid position

LEARNING OUTCOMES
-Social Media – learn and execute strategies for building and engaging a core audience via major networks (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) on behalf of a cause-related brand.
-Content Marketing – learn how to effectively develop concepts, research stories, and write social media content of interest to Give a Beat’s audience. Learn how to use this content to grow and engage an online audience.
-Soft skills – learn how to operate in a start-up environment: how to manage expectations, how to plan and organize tasks to meet moving deadlines, how to take direction, report to, and liaise with multiple organization leaders including Project Manager, Executive Director, Digital Media Consultant

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
-Good working knowledge of the best-practices and administrative mechanics of Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter
-Sincere interest in a career in social media, marketing and/or PR
-Good familiarity with electronic dance music culture, musicians, and industry
-Natural attention to detail
-Excellent writing skills
-Genuine interest in the goals of Give a Beat (the music & the cause)

Note: This internship is available to anyone anywhere. It is a virtual position. The ED is located in Southern California. You would be interfacing with artists in Detroit and Indiana. Our programs are mostly in Los Angeles, but also soon to be in the Bay Area and other locations.
