Overview

Reporting to the SVP of Corporate Communications, this position is responsible for leading all aspects of PR initiatives related to SiriusXM’s Talk and Entertainment channels and their hosts. This position also routinely helps plan and execute the staging of notable events related to Programming initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work closely with in-house Programming leadership and teams to help in the launch of new channels, programming or hosts.
Work closely with Programming to create materials, help plan strategies, and conduct media outreach for PR initiatives in Talk and Entertainment areas.
Research and prepare press materials, such as press releases, videos, and photos for introduction of new or significant Programming.
Develop and maintain relationships with key members of the press, and assist Senior Directors in the department with media relations.
Manage and collaborate with various departments within company to develop promotional campaigns for external audiences, and help stage press events and announcements at SiriusXM studios in New York and Washington D.C.
Liaison to all departments to write press releases, employee communications, internal newsletters.
Works in close coordination with SiriusXM’s Social Media and Web team, Branding, and Interactive to help in the promotion of Programming assets online and on social media.
Handle sensitive queries from press and employees.
Manages video clips and event photos.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 8-10 years experience within related field or industry, with at least 5+ years experience in public relations and/or communications required.
Public relations experience within a media/entertainment or consumer products company strongly preferred. Prior PR agency background experience is a plus.
Requirements and General Skills:

Proven experience in talking to and pitching stories to prominent media outlets, regardless of online, print and TV platforms.
Must have strong rolodex of industry and PR contacts.
An active member of social media, either privately or as PR representative of your company.
Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills; superior writing ability.
Strong research skills and ability to translate research into effective and practical communications.
Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills; meticulous attention to detail in this regard.
Ability to multi-task and shift priorities in a fast paced work environment.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization.
Self-motivated and proactive.
Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:

Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and HTML
