Overview

Our Music Content team is made of up real music experts with a deep knowledge of regional music trends and genres.  As part of this team, the content editor will ensure that album and artist metadata are of highest quality. Daily responsibilities include applying independent judgment to create, review and correct music-related data elements according to established standards and practices. The editor will also be responsible for updating documentation relating to standards for internal use and surface issues for review by the team.

Gracenote is looking for a dance and electronic music specialist. Applicants must demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of the history of dance and electronic music, as well as firm mastery of current trends and subgenres in this space. Potential Content Editors are expected to be familiar with important artists ranging from Kraftwerk and Donna Summer to Avicii and Skrillex, as well as influential electronic artists who may be little-known outside of the dance music scene. The ideal candidate is an expert on the topic of electronic music genres and how they are distinct, demonstrating an understanding of the differences between house, techno and garage; dubstep and brostep; EBM, EDM and IDM; big beat and breakbeat; electro and electro house; Miami bass and drum & bass, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

-Comprehensive knowledge of popular music with demonstrated expertise in dance and electronic music, including detailed sub-genres;
-Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
-Excellent basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), especially experience working with large amounts of data
-In-depth research skills
-Knowledgeable about database operations and data access methods, including MS Access, MySQL, etc.
-Must be detail-oriented and show familiarity with data-standardization policies and techniques, styles guides, and/or normalization routines
-Able to work independently, with little or no direct supervision, surfacing problems or issues for approval as necessary
-Able to establish, communicate, and follow agreed upon project priorities

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. or B.S. in relevant field, or equivalent related experience

PLUSES

-Familiarity with European popular music markets
-Practical familiarity with one or more European languages a strong plus
-Any practical knowledge of SQL and relational databases
-Previous experience in a music technology, music retail, music industry or related media industry job
