The kind of person we’re looking for…

The Rdio API is the core of our platform, driving all of our products and our partnerships. We are looking for a software engineer who is passionate about building APIs. We believe that APIs should be easy to use and fast. Your job will be help us achieve those goals.

The kind of stuff you’ll be doing…

Working closely with our backend and infrastructure teams to build, maintain, and scale the Rdio API

Developing new API functionality to support Rdio, our partners, and the developer community

Participating in product discussions about the API impact of new Rdio features

Updating the Rdio API documentation

Working in rapid development cycles in a python environment

Supporting developers inside Rdio, our partners, and our developer community as they build applications on top of the Rdio API

Representing Rdio at events such as Music Hack Day to promote our platform and help developers

 

The kind of skills & experience we expect…

 

A solid understanding of what makes a good API

Fluency in a high level language, e.g. Python or Ruby

Experience with SQL/relational databases

Experience building and architecting distributed systems

Solid written and verbal communication skills

Bonus experience…

You’ve already built something using the Rdio API

You’ve implemented an OAuth server before

You have an opinion on the OAuth 2.0 RFC compared to the earlier drafts, and compared to OAuth 1.0a
