The Sr. Benefits Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Benefits and is responsible for the planning, coordination and administration of employee benefit plans and work/life programs. Consults with and acts as a subject matter expert to employees and HR generalists regarding all benefits plans.
Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration and Planning:
Serves as a subject matter expert for HR Generalists and employees on all benefits plans for all actives, retirees and COBRA participants.
Resolves escalated issues from the Benefits Coordinator.
Manages eligibility/enrollment processes, HRIS updates, vendor management files.
Works with HR Generalists at all SME locations to ensure a seamless enrollment process.
Supports vendor meetings to review and request design changes/updates to plans to support employees. Helps to identify gaps with customer service and vendor related information and recommends and executes process improvements to close service gaps.
Assists with creating and conducting employee meeting forums to present benefit information and answer enrollment questions.
Takes leadership with assistance of Benefits Coordinator to work directly with HRIS team to test system updates per changes to benefit plans.
Keeps abreast of the benefits landscape and keeps the broader benefits team updated on healthcare reform topics and/or changing laws.
Reviews over age dependent reports and processes monthly life insurance and disability invoices.
Prepares, updates and communicates information about benefit plans and programs, procedures, changes, and government mandated disclosures, reports and filings. Current reporting includes Form 5500’s, summary annual reports, summary plan documents, and discrimination testing.
Maintains all benefit related information on The Buzz.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree with a minimum 3 years direct Benefits experience
Proficient knowledge in Benefits industry trends and methodology
Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent customer service skills
Creative problem solver and self starter
Maintain discretion and confidentiality when working with sensitive information
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting compensation
