Overview

As Director of Engineering for the Discovery (Search and Recommendations) group, you will drive technical projects and manage multiple engineering teams. With a strong, product-focused engineering background, you will make key technical contributions and provide technical leadership through mentoring and pairing with engineers from dozens of nationalities. Additionally, you will be responsible for shaping your teams and recruiting in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Key responsibilities:

Work closely with the product management team to ensure that you are building the best products out there.
Manage multiple, cross-site teams of engineers with varied backgrounds.
Recruit top-notch engineers for your teams.
Provide technical vision, guidance, and motivation for your teams.
Act as a technical liaison to and representative for other teams, groups, and the entire company.
Required skills and experience:

10 years’ engineering experience.
5 years’ experience as a technical lead or manager.
Industry experience building data-driven products at scale.
Industry experience implementing machine-learning solutions at scale.
Extensive experience with and in-depth knowledge of agile methodologies.
Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
Ability and eagerness to travel and coordinate cross-site engineering efforts.
Recruiting and culturally-informed communication skills.
