Overview

As an Insight Engineer, you’ll be working within our insight team to turn unthinkable amounts of data into small data, and build tools which allow people in the company to make data-informed decisions.

By turning data into insight and insight into business action, you’ll push SoundCloud forward as an industry benchmark in insight-informed decision making.

What you’ll do:

Help build, maintain and improve a web/mobile event logging pipeline
Work on improving & maintaining our A/B testing infrastructure
Share and develop engineering best practices in a non-engineering team
Maintain & add value to data pipelines using key tools such as Map-Reduce & Amazon Redshift
Support the Insight team to help making analysis & access to data as easy as possible
Build web tools that can provide new & unique ways for the company to interact with data/insight.
Be creative, always question the norm, challenge the way things are done.
About you:

Bachelors degree in Software, Computer Science, or a related field
Excellent knowledge of one backend language (C, C++, Java, Scala, Go, Haskell)
Very good knowledge of one scripting language (Perl, Ruby, Python, Javascript)
3-5 years experience of working and maintaining production systems
Excellent SQL skills
Experience with ETL tools
Creative problem solving abilities with an eye for detail.
Bonus Skills & experience:

Experience writing/managing specifications for events on Web/Mobile
Building data flow processes
Data Warehouse design
Map / Reduce
Working knowledge of AWS tools (S3, Redshift, etc..)
Tableau
