We’re looking for experienced leaders with a passion for cutting edge technology to help build our teams in New York. We are currently growing fast and need to hire new team leads within our technology organization. We value innovation, initiative and creating great products. In our goal to continue to deliver the best possible product more quickly we are building out an automated/technical QA team in our New York City office. This is an opportunity to work with the development team in NYC and colleagues in Stockholm to build out a QA team to help us deliver great products throughout the world and give our customers the best possible experience.

While we expect engineering leaders to be hands-on technical contributors, the Team Lead role is people-first rather than technology-first. Your primary responsibility is to the people on your team – not only hiring and building it, but also ensuring that the members are growing as engineers, doing valuable work and generally having a great time at Spotify. We believe that empowering the entire team will lead to great things. We also need the team lead to help lead the way with technology and best practices to make sure we grow the automated QA.

We keep our teams small — around 5-10 people — to ensure that our team leads have time to participate in technical work and lead by example. We run a matrix organization, so the engineers in your team will be working on a diverse set of projects and products.

You’ve managed a team before and have experience in growing and mentoring engineers. You understand the value of leading from behind and empowering your team. You are a technical leader in your field, you’re familiar with and actively involved in current technology developments in your area of expertise. You have good architecture and design sense and generally take a pragmatic and iterative approach to engineering. You believe in continuous self-improvement.

Responsibilities:

Work with product and infrastructure teams to develop an automated test platform

Manage and mentor automated and technical QA engineers

Develop best practices and design patterns around automated and technical testing

Design and Analyze test cases to identify areas to focus on

Work with the recruiting team to attract and retain high quality talent

Requirements:

Ability to design and analyze effective automated test coverage with a statistical based, analytical approach

+5 years of testing experience, and test automation (not including unit tests)

+3 years experience of testing in agile companies/projects.

Extensive experience with automated test frameworks for Android, iOS, Desktop, web applications and backend services

Experienced in continuous integration and continuous delivery

Experience of performance testing

Knowledge of testing REST services (Nice to have)
