Overview
We are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for cutting edge technology to help build our mobile teams in New York. While we expect engineering leaders to be hands-on technical contributors, the Team Lead role is people-first rather than technology-first. Your primary responsibility is to the people on your team – not only hiring and building it, but also ensuring that the members are growing as engineers, doing valuable work and generally having a great time at Spotify. We believe that empowering the entire team will lead to great things. We also need the team lead to help lead the way with technology and best practices to make sure we grow our iOS expertise and ability to delight our users.
We keep our teams small — around 5-10 people — to ensure that our team leads have time to participate in technical work and lead by example. We run a matrix organization, so the engineers in your team will be working on a diverse set of projects and products.
About You:
You’ve managed a team before and have experience in growing and mentoring engineers. You understand the value of leading from behind and empowering your team. You are a technical leader in your field, you’re familiar with and actively involved in current technology developments in your area of expertise. You have good architecture and design sense and generally take a pragmatic and iterative approach to engineering. You believe in continuous self-improvement.
Qualifications:
3+ years management/lead experience
5+ years of experience in software development and a strong command of object oriented principles/programming
3+ years experience of development in agile companies/projects
Demonstrated strengths in Objective-C and the iOS platform. Android development is a plus
Experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery
Experience integrating with REST services (nice to have)
Responsibilities:
Translate the needs of the product and business to ensure they are aligned with team priorities
Build, lead and continuously develop a team of high-caliber, experienced engineers
Leveraging previous development expertise, take part in the delivery process, write software and stay ahead with the latest in cutting-edge technologies
Play a key role in architectural and strategic decisions
Establish great rapport with other development teams, Product Owners, QA and others to maintain high levels of visibility and efficiency, collaborate on and influence new products
Work with the recruiting team to attract and retain high quality talent
