Hello, my name is Kirk Smith and I am interested in applying for the Assistant position at Universal Music Group. I would be a great candidate for this position, because of my previous experience of working in a fast pace environment, my attention to detail, and my excellent communication skills.

While I worked as a busser, I had the opportunity to improve my communication skills through interacting and responding directly to customer needs. It was my responsibility to ensure that the customers were satisfied with their experience. If the customers were not satisfied, then I would collaborate with the extended staff and worked to create a solution that would leave the customer with a better experience and a desire to return.  I worked in a fast-paced environment where it was vital to collaborate with the entire staff and communication was paramount in performance of delivering the best possible experience for customers. Considering Universal Music Group, being an organization that is very focused on employee communication, the skills and experience that I have learned from my prior employment would fit in well with the core values of the company. Universal Music Group is also a company which is very inclusive and collaborative which are two areas that my past work experience has trained me for.
As a member of Hall Council at SUNY Oswego and as an intern at Experience Oswego, I honed my communications skills in a group setting and with business leaders. With my position as a Residence Hall Association Representative, I have increased my skills with collaborating and networking with other hall council members. By attending bi-weekly meetings with the other hall councils on the SUNY Oswego campus, my residents relied on me to consistently deliver accurate information. In this position I was also seen as a leader where it is was my duty to collaborate with others and to create and implement a plan to further the experience of the residence.  At Experience Oswego, I worked directly with local business owners in the city of Oswego, NY and helped them to increase their market presence and service offerings.
